The stunt master was born in Hong Kong with a name Chan Kong-sang in 1954. The world has known him as an action packed comedian for his movies but he is also a martial art specialist. He has more than 100 movies to his name and has been awarded stars on the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Jackie Chan was born in Victoria Peak, a former Crown colony of Hong Kong. He was nicknamed Paopao, meaning Cannonball because of the enthusiasm he possessed from his early age. Chan went to the China Drama Academy where he was trained rigorously for a decade, excelling in martial arts and acrobatics. At the age of 8, he appeared with some of his fellow in the film Big and Little Wong Tin Bar.
Chan has another aspect which is seldom discussed. He is an operatically trained vocalist, a Cantopop and Mandopop star, who has released a number of albums and sung many of the theme songs for the films in which he has starred. Chan’s action packed fun filled image has been used in various pop songs, cartoons, and video games.
In movies, he is known for his acrobatic fighting style, use of improvised weapons, comic timing and innovative stunts. Jackie Chan began his film career as a stuntman in the Bruce Lee films Fist of Fury and later appeared in Enter the Dragon. Chan’s first major hit was the Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow released in 1978. Chan then starred in another hit Drunken Master, which finally propelled him to mainstream success.
