Daniel Jacob Stern is an American TV and Film actor and a director. He was born on 28th August, 1957 in Maryland, United States of America. He is known for his comedic roles in two Home Alone movies as Marv Merchant, the bandit.

Early Career

Daniel Stern started his career in 1979 appearing in the movie titled Breaking Away, followed by another role in It’s My Turn in 1980. The movie, which brought him worldwide fame was Diner, it not only helped him make his presence felt in the film circles but earn a number of roles in the following years.

Comedy roles have always been Daniel Stern’s forte, he played a number of comedic roles in various movies like City Slickers, Home Alone released in 1990 and Home Alone 2 released in 1992, to name a few. Later in his career, he voiced the role of the main character of the animated TV series titled Dilbert and appeared in Little Monsters. As a director, Daniel Stern directed few episodes of The Wonder Years as well as the film titled Rookie of the Year.

Career Highlights

As an actor Daniel Stern focused on comedy roles and established his name as one of the best comedy actors of the 1990s. The character of bandit Marv Merchant in the Home Alone movies provided a major breakthrough to his career and so did the role he played in another comedy flick titled City Slickers. He won the nomination for the American Comedy Award in the category for Funniest Supporting Actor in 1992 for City Slickers.
