Popular Pakistani film actor Darpan

More commonly known by his stage name Dapran, Syed Ishrat Abbas is on the top of the romantic heroes of the golden age of Lollywood, the Pakistani film industry. Darpan started his career as a film actor in 1950 from the film named Amanat, a Punjabi film. Later, he performed in Billo, a Punjabi film produced in1951. He was born in India in 1928 in an educated Shia family. 

Darpan was among the top heroes in 1960s and just after his first two films he left Pakistan to start his career in Mumbai, India where he didn’t get much acclaimed. In India, he appeared in two notable films; Barati and Adl-e-Jahangir. In Adl-e-Jahangir, he acted opposite Meena Kumari. Darpna’s most critically applauded film is Saheli in which he was seen along with Nayar Sultana and Shamim Ara, two great actresses of that time. It was his performance in this film that earned him two awards; a Nigar Award and a Presidential award. This great hero died in Lahore in 1980 and left behind a legacy of some great films of the golden era.

After few years, Darpan came back to Lahore when film industry was on its peak and started his career once again by acting in Baap ka gunah. All the fame he got owe much to his self-produced films like Sathi, Shikwa, Saheli and many more.  His last film as a hero was Payal ki jhankar in 1950.
