Top Bollywood movies of famous Indian actor: Balraj Sahni

Famous Bollywood actor Balraj Sahni

Famous Indian actor, Balraj Sahni caught track of his acting career with the Indian People’s Theatre Association (in plays like ‘The Inspector General’ and ‘Doll’s House’) and like the rest of his IPTA comrades, he was politically cognizant. His debut film in a lead role, ‘Dharti Ke Lai’ (1946) by K.A. Abbas, was about the Bengal deprivation and though it got much appreciation for its portrayal of the bitter truth, the film also featured his wife Damyanti in a lead role. After films like ‘Humlog’, ‘Do Bigha Zameen’ and ‘Kabuliwala’ got the handsome actormuch-deserved acclaim. At a time when systematic acting was not in trend, only Sahni’s dedication to his craft was considered as a measure. However, Hindi cinema could hardly offer him enough roles that were worthy of his phenomenal talent. But Balraj Sahni was brilliant in Bollywood films like ‘Garam Coat’, ‘Seema’, ‘Anuradha’, ‘Kathputli’ and ‘Sone Ki Chidiya’. Balraj was one of the best actors Indian cinema has ever produced. If he hasn’t gotten his equitable position in the pantheon of stars, it is because that unfortunately, he passed away before the celebrity-worshipping culture came into being.
