It was October, 1942 when this Indian super star Amitabh Bachchan came into this world and opened his eyes in the home of late poet Harivansh Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. Allahabad, India is his birthplace. Amitabh is also known as Big B, Amith, AB Sr. and many other popular nick names. His deep baritone voice, 6′ 2″ height, intense eyes and his brooding persona led him to be an ideal and heart-conquering actor. His film career began with his move to Calcutta upon completion of his education. Initially he went to Calcutta with an intention to work for Shaw and Wallace- a shipping firm. But later, he turned to Bombay and started struggling to get into Indian film Industry.

He faced many obstacles and hardships to make his place in Bollywood world. The directors were looking to have wise-cracking person with fair complexion that was the trademark of heroes at that time in 1960s era. Amitabh got his breakthrough in Bollywood with an introduction letter by Indira Gandhi-ex Indian Prime-minister. That’s how he stepped into the Indian film world. He started his career with Zanjeer in 1973 opposite Jaya Bhaduri. After this broke through he gave various major hits including, Sholay, Don, Deewar, Trishul and Shakti. While following Dilip Kumar’s style, he added his flamboyance to make his style unique. He proved that he has the potential to get flair equally no matter his target is tragedies like Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Deewar or comedies like Anthony, Chupke Chupke and Naseeb. He got an equal fame and appreciation in both of the context. He provided memorable performance and proved that he deserves to be the super star by giving such blockbuster hits with flicker of passion.

Although Amitabh got married to Jaya Bhaduri yet he made popular couple with Rekha on screen. He reached at the peak of popularity till mid-1980s. However, the next decade didn’t go in his favor well and he confronted many film flops as well. In early 1990s he left film industry and decided to join Congress but he couldn’t continue to be in the party due to various scandals and issues that sprang against him. He returned back to industry and had a sucsessful second innings. He also hosted a few seasons of Kaun Banegaa Crorepati. Despite of all ups and down in his career he continued to rule over the hearts of thousands of people. His fame spread all around the world.

Amitabh Bachchan has the distinction to be the first Asian actor whose wax model was displayed at Wax Museum in London. He is the second Indian actor who managed to achieve the superstar status. Rajesh Khanna was the first person who was given the same status. He was granted the Padma Shri Award for the outclass performance he showed in the Indian Film industry.  In addition to acting, Amitabh Bachchan sung a few songs in various movies including; Toofan, Laawaris and Silsila. He has two children-Abishek and Shweta. His son Abishek Bachchan is also an actor while his daughter is living a non-filmy life.
