In 2015, it has been the 72nd edition of Golden Globe Awards. Golden Globe awards are one of the most prestigious awards covering Cinema in the United States as well as American TV shows. Golden Globe Awards are also almost always highly awaited because these awards are among the first in the season and more or less set the tone for the other award ceremonies. Every academy has its own criteria for deciding the winners every year; however the nominations are pretty much similar. Golden Globe being the earliest of all usually sets the tone.

Along with these, Golden Globe Awards 2015 also had best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best original score, best director, best screen play, best animated film, best foreign film along with a whole set of awards related to American Television in 2014. Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) won the Golden Globe award for best supporting actress and J. K. Simmons won the Golden Globe award for best supporting actor. Fargo came out as the winner of Golden Globe award for best TV mini serial from American TV in 2014.

Birdman is the movie which received highest number of nominations in these awards. Birdman tops the chart with 7 nominations. Boyhood and imitation game both had 5 nominations each. Gone girl, Selma, The grand Budapest hotel and the theory of everything got 4 nominations each. Big eyes, Into the woods, and Foxcatcher got nominated for 3 categories. Annie and St. Vincent both got 2 nominations each. “Boyhood” has won the maximum number of Golden Globe awards which is 3. “Birdman” and “The theory of everything” both got 2 awards each.
