Kathleen Doyle Bates, popularly known as Kathy Bates, is a renowned film director and actress of United States of America. Born on 28th June, 1948 in Tennessee, she is known for her roles in movies like Misery, Fried Green Tomatoes, Dolores Claiborne, TitanicĀ and About Schmidt.
Early Career
Kathy Bates started her career in 1971, appearing in the role of Bobo Bates in the movie titled Taking Off. In 1978, she appeared in Straight Time followed by a role in 1983 movie titled Two of a Kind. Her first breakthrough performance came in 1990, in the movie titled Misery, which earned her critical acclaim and brought her into the limelight.
Following the success of Misery, she landed several leading roles in movies including Fried Green Tomatoes, which also turned out to be a huge success and won her several nominations. In 1990s, she appeared in The Road to Mecca in 1992, A Home of Our Own in 1993, North and Curse of the Starving Class in 1994, before appearing in another breakthrough role in the movie titled Dolores Claiborne.
