Catherine Ann O’ Hara is a renowned American-Canadian Actress, Comedienne and writer. She was born on 4th March, 1954 in Ontario, Canada and started her career in 1973. She is known for her roles in movies like After Hours, Home Alone, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice.

Early Career

Popular Hollywood actress Catherine O’Hara started her career in 1976 appearing in TV film titled The Rimshots and made her debut movie appearance in 1980, playing the role of Judith in Double Negative. In 1980s, she landed roles in movies like Nothing Personal and Rock & Rule before appearing in a breakthrough role in the movie titled After Hours, released in 1985.

Following the success of After Hours, she earned a role in Heartburn in 1986 and won critical acclaim with her role of Deila Deetz in Beetlejuice in 1988. In 1990, she appeared in the role of Kate McAllister in Home Alone and reprised her role in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, released in 1992.  In 1992, she appeared in a comedy role with Jeff Daniels in There Goes the Neighborhood.

Career Highlights

Catherine O’Hara won Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in 1999 movie titled The Life Before This. In 2000, she won American Comedy Award for the movie Best in Show, followed by Florida Film Critics Circle Award for Best Cast for the movie A Mighty Wind in 2003. In addition to these awards, she has won several other nominations and awards for her TV appearances.
