62nd British Academy Film Awards – BAFTA Awards 2008: Boyle Stole The Show!

The most nominations for BAFTA 2008 Film Awards were for Films ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ and Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Both Films were nominated for eleven categories, out of which ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ won three awards and ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ won seven awards, inclusive of Best Film, Best Director, Best Music and Best Sound awards. This Film was also a nominee for the ‘Best British Film’ category. Dev Patel, who played the role of leading actor in this film, was nominated for Best Actor against Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Frank Langella and Mickey Rourke. Freida Pinto, the actress in this film, was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress against Amy Adams, Marisa Tomei, Tilda Swinton and Penelope Cruz. With the most nominations for his film, Boyle must have been feeling proud of him, but taking the most awards home, must have felt out of this world!

Best Actor in Leading Role BAFTA Award 2008: Mickey Rourke – The Wrestler

Best Actress in Leading Role BAFTA Award 2008: Kate Winslet – The Reader

Best Supporting Actor BAFTA Award 2008: Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight

Best Supporting Actress BAFTA Award 2008: Penelope Cruz – Vicky Cristina Barcelona
