54th British Academy Film Awards – BAFTA Awards 2000: Jamie Bell Got Lucky!

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Film Awards for 2000 were held in the West End of London, an event attended by many A-list stars of all times. The Best Film award went to Gladiator, in which Russell Crowe did the main lead, and no doubt, he played his role brilliantly but the award for the Best Actor went to Jamie Bell for Billy Elliot. The fourteen-year-old actor’s name was in nominations along with Tom Hanks, Russell Crowe, Geoffrey Rush and Michael Douglas. Lucky got the little-star who won this award with great appreciation from the audience and from Russell Crowe himself. On the announcement of the award, Jamie Bell was shocked with surprise and joy. The little star thanked everyone involved in the film and the audience cheered at him in compliance for his achievement.

Best Film BAFTA Award 2000: Gladiator

Best Director BAFTA Award 2000: Ang Lee – Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Best Actor in Leading Role BAFTA Award 2000: Jamie Bell – Billy Elliot

Best Actress in Leading Role BAFTA Award 2000: Julia Roberts – Erin Brockovich

Best Supporting Actor BAFTA Award 2000: Benicio Del Toro – Traffic

Best Supporting Actress BAFTA Award 2000: Julie Walters – Billy Elliot
