74th Academy Awards Winners (2002 Oscar Awards)

74th Academy Awards – Kodak Theatre here we come!

For the first time ever the Oscars took place in the Kodak Theatre however because of the recent September 11 incident the evenings celebrations were curtailed. Also, this was Whoopi Goldberg’s fourth time hosting the Academy Awards. Some critics termed the awards as “Blackademy” Awards because for the first time in Oscar history both Best Actor and Actress awards were given to African-Americans.

A list of the winners is as follows:

Best Actor Academy/Oscar Award 2002: Denzel Washington – Training Day

Best Supporting Actor Academy/Oscar Award 2002: Jim Broadbent – Iris

Best Supporting Actress Academy/Oscar Award 2002: Jennifer Connelly – A Beautiful Mind

Best Original Screenplay Academy/Oscar Award 2002: Gosford Park

Best Adapted Screenplay Academy/Oscar Award 2002: A Beautiful Mind

Best Animated Feature Academy/Oscar Award 2002: Shrek

Best Foreign Language Film Academy/Oscar Award 2002: No Man’s Land (Bosnia)

Best Documentary Feature Academy/Oscar Award 2002: Murder on a Sunday Morning

Best Documentary Short Academy/Oscar Award 2002: Thoth

Best Live Action Short Academy/Oscar Award 2002: The Accountant
