Academy Awards (2010, 2011 and 2012)

Academy Awards are presented every year to the people  providing best performance in different movies. 82nd Award’s ceremony was held in 2010 in Log Angeles presented by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. In these awards, “Hurt Locker” won six awards, “Avatar” won three awards and “Up” won two awards in different categories. The best director award was won by Kathryn Bigelow for her film “the Hurt Locker”, and became the first women to win this award. The best picture award was won by Mark Boal, Nicholas Chertier and Kathryn Bigelow for the film “The Hurt Locker”. The award of the best actor was won by Jeff Bridges for the movie “Crazy Heart”. Sandra Bullock was selected as the best actress of the year for her film “The Blind Side”. In other categories, Christophe Waltz won best supporting actor award for “Inglourious Basterds”, Mo’Nique won best supporting actress award for the film “Precious”, Mark Boal won best original screen play award for the film “The Hurt Locker” and Pete Docter was selected as the best animated feature winner for “Up”. Best sound mixing and editing awards were won by the film “The Hurt Locker”.

The 83rd Ceremony of the Academy Awards was presented by AMPAS in 2011 in California. In these awards, “The King’s Speech” won maximum awards, “The Social network” won three, “The Fighter”, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Toy Story 3” won two awards each. The winner of the best director award was Tom Hooper for his movie “The King’s Speech”. This movie was also selected as the best movie of the year. Colin Firth won the best actor award for his outclass performance in the movie “The King’s Speech”. Natalie Portman was selected as the best actress for her movie “Black Swan”. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo were selected as the best supporting actor and actress for their performances in the movie “The Fighter”. Randy Newman was selected as best original song writer for his song “We belong together”. “The Social network” won the award of best original score. “Inception” won the award of best sound editing and mixing movie academy award. The award of the best art direction was won by “Alice in Wonderland” for art direction. “Inception” also won the best visual effect award for its excellence visual effects addition in the movie.

The 84th Ceremony of Academy Awards took place in 2012 in California presented by AMPAS. Different celebrities won awards in different categories for their excellent performance in various films. The movie that won the most awards was “The Artist” directed by Michael Hazanavicius and “Hugo” with five awards each. “The Iron lady” won two awards during the ceremony in two different categories. The award of the best picture has won by the movie “The Artist”. The best director award was won by “Michel Hazanavicius” for the same movie. Jean won the best actor award for his outclass performance in the movie “The Artist”, while Meryl Streep won the best actress award for her performance in “The Iron Lady”. Other award winners were Christopher Plummer for best supporting actor in movie “Beginners”, Octavia Spencer for best supporting actress in the movie “The Help”, “Man or Muppet” for the best original song and “Hugo” won both the best sound editing and mixing awards. The awards of the best film editing and the best visual effects were won by “The girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “Hugo” respectively. “James Earl Jones” and “Dick Smith” won the Academy Honorary Awards for their long time services to the movie world.

BAFTA Awards of 2011 and 2012

BAFTA are the British Academy Film Awards held every year to present awards to the best national and foreign films. In 2011, these awards were held in February to honour the best nominees of the year. The award of the best film was won by “The King’s Speech”. The nominees for the award of best actor were Javier Bardem, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, James Franco and the Colin Firth. The winner of the award was Colin Firth for the movie “The King’s Speech”. The award of the best actress was won by Natalie Portman for her excellent performance in the movie “Black Swan”.

Aaron Sorkin won the award of the best adapted Screenplay for the film “The Social Network”. Best animated film award was won by “Toy Story 3” for its excellent animation show up. Roger Deakins won the award of the best Cinematography for his film “True Grit”. Different nominees were selected for the award of best costume design, but “Alice in Wonderland” won this award. The award of the best director was won by David Fincher for his movie “The Social Network”. The movie “The Social Network” also won the award of best editing. The award of the best film in the foreign language was won by “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”.

“Alice in Wonderland” won the award of best makeup and hair award. “The King’s Speech” won both best music and best original screenplay awards of the year. The award of the best production design and best special visual effects was won by the movie “Inception”. “The King’s Speech” won best sound award, “Until the River Runs Red” won the award of best short film and “The Eagle man Stag” won the best short animation award of 2011. The award of best supporting actor was won by Geoffrey Rush and best supporting actress by Helena Bonham Carter. Both these performers won the award for their excellent supporting performance in the movie “The King’s Speech”. Harry Potter film series won the 2011 award of outstanding contribution to British Cinema award, while Tom Hardy won the award of rising star and “The King’s Speech” won the best British film award of the year. Chris Morris was the last nominee who won the award of the outstanding debut by a British director for his first movies “Four lions”.

65th BAFTA Awards were held in 2012 in London to honour the best national and international films of 2011. Stephen Fry was the host of the awards. The movie that won the most number of awards for this year was “The Artists” with won seven out of twelve nominations. The award of the best film and the best director film was won by movie “The Artist” directed by Michel Hazanavicius. The award of the best actor and best actress in the leading role was won by Jean Dujardin for the movie “The Artist” and Meryl Sheep for the movie “The Iron Lady” respectively. For the best actor and actress in the supporting role, Christopher Plummer won the best actor’s award for the movie “Beginners” and Octavia Spencer for the category of best actress for movie “The Help”.

The award of the best original screen play was won by the movie “The Artist” and for adapted screen play; the award was won by “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” which also won of outstanding British film award 2012. The other awards won by the movie “The Artist” include best Cinematography award, best original music award and the best costume design award. The award of outstanding debut by British director and producer was won by “Tyrannosaur” and “Diarmid Scrimshaw”.

Bollywood Awards: Annual Screen Awards

At the start of every year, Star Screen Awards are held in the second week of January in India to honour the efforts of the Bollywood celebrities. The awards and nominations are conducted by a highly professional staff within the industry. It is responsible for making the ideal selections, ensuring without fail over the years that the chosen winner is the deserving candidate. These awards are the only awards in the Indian industry which involve the use of governour of academy motion pictures and also bring the executive directors together.

These awards are the only awards that are given away to the deserving candidates by way of the jury. Unlike the other awards, Star Screen Awards, organized every year and being the first ones to be given away, do not rely on the popular choice awards but has certain panelists who make decisions regarding winners. These were inaugurated in the year 1994 by Anaya Goenka and have, since then, proved to be the ideal awards given away.

Golden Globe Awards 2012

69th Golden Globe awards 2012 were held in California on 15th Jan, 2012. These awards were broadcasted live from Beverley Hilton Hotel. Ricky was the host of the awards and musical theme for the year was selected from famous Japanese band X Japan. Different actors, actresses, directors, picture makers and supporting actors and actresses were chosen for the award. The best out of these nominees got the Golden Globe award 2012 for the mind blowing performance in the year 2011. Out of different awards, film “The Artist” won three awards in different categories. On the other hand, “The Descendants” has won two awards as a best picture and best actor in the leading role.

Golden Globe Awards winners 1944-1951

The Golden Globe Awards are presented to recognize the excellent performance on television and film. These awards are bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The formal dinner and ceremony is an important part of the award ceremony. The first Golden Globe Awards were held at the 20th Century Fox studios in Los Angeles in January 1944.
